If you sign all 3 of these guys what is going to be so different moving forward that will make you guys a better and more successful team? We're in the bottom of the league because of our defense. If you remove Ceci from our D-corps (please Dorion, please remove Ceci from the D-corps)- the other 7 defensemen on the roster COMBINED make $5.1 million.

Think about that for a second. Most teams have a few defensemen making more than that individually.

Ottawa's offense is actually pretty good- and mostly because of those 3. If Dorion can add a few pieces to the defense they're actually a competitive team. However, Melnyk refuses to spend any money- so it would be completely shocking if all three stayed, let alone put out additional money to help the defense.


If you overpaid all three- Stone and Duchene each get 9 per, Dzingel gets 5 per. Give Colin White 2.5-

The sens would still have $6m in cap space- and this is including almost $10m in IR contracts (Gaborik and MacArthur) that should be bought out.


It's understated how much Melnyk and his lack of financial commitment (or capability) is destroying this team.

I don't think we have much of a problem with that, since the top 3 isn't guaranteed, and we're pretty happy with Tkachuk so far. Dorion took the pick that presented itself, instead of hoping on getting lucky with a better pick, and it's the one thing I think he got right.

The difference is in the team's overall defence (coaching?), goaltending, and the upcoming picks and developing prospects. Certainly can't be much worse than they are right now as long as our best 3 forwards are still with us. If they aren't, well, it's gonna be an even longer time until we're relevant again.

I have always thought that Uncle Lou will be there at the final buzzer trying to get Duchene. It is a great fit. Package that might actually work would be a #1, Dobson and Beauvilier.

I don’t think LA trades for him. Some people (nhl execs and more) think LA will just sign him.

Martinez will most likely be traded and possibly a Lewis or Clifford as well. Also possibly Kovalchuk. Even if Kovalchuk isn’t off the roster they can still sign Panarin close to, if not around 10 million. Panarin could definitely speed up the retool
